Research Center Evaluation

All university-level research centers are mainly responsible for promoting academic research; consolidate, develop, and utilize their research results. To maximize the strengths of the University, NCCU has established the following research centers: Institute of International Relations; Election Study Center; Center of the Third Sector; Center for China Studies; Center for Mind, Brain, and Learning; Humanities Research Center; Center for Creativity and Innovative Studies; Taiwan Studies Center, Center for Aboriginal Studies, and Center for the Study of Chinese Religions. The prestigious centers were organized by top-notch scholars in their fields of expertise.

In accordance with relevant regulations, the Office of Research and Development provides the necessary resources to help these centers, assisting them to fully demonstrate their strengths. To effectively manage the operation of these university-level centers, NCCU has established the Guidelines for Managing the Research Centers and the Guidelines for Evaluating the Research Centers in 2003. For each research center, the first evaluation shall be conducted two years after its establishment, with subsequent evaluations performed once every three years. The evaluation panel for these university-level research centers shall be organized by on/off campus scholars and professionals, subject to approval by the evaluation committee of the University. The evaluation results shall be the determining factor for the center's continuous operation.

To support the development of university-level research centers and elevate their academic standards, NCCU started to implement evaluation programs for these centers in 2007. In the future, NCCU will continue to arrange self-evaluation programs and site visits by external scholars, so as to understand the research achievements of these centers, help them establish self-improvement mechanisms, create research momentum, and inspire forward-looking research initiatives. The ultimate purpose is to continuously improve the research quality of the school and increase our social influence.
