On August 21 the Ministry of Education (MOE) has held a press conference entitled “Convergence of the Top, Benefit on the Society” (巨而能聚，良善社會) for project achievements from “Ten Years Towards the Top – Contribution to Society” (邁頂十年－奉獻社會). The conference was themed by humanity and social science, in which 12 top universities published 47 features, showing great achievements from Top University Project (頂大計畫).
Minister Sehwa Wu (吳思華) said that MOE's aim in promoting Top University Project was not only to achieve top positions in global university ranking, but also to cultivate topnotch talents qualified for titles in internationally renowned universities or enterprises in the future, which is the core of the project. For MOE, teaching shall be equally crucial to research, which, also an aim of the project, shall not only be internationally recognized but also combine local society growth. By holding the press conference, he wishes to demonstrate project achievements to society and hopes, in the meanwhile, to attain support from the society and industries and hence more resources for Top University Project (頂大計畫).
With support from the Top University Project, National Chengchi University has accumulated grand achievements in the past decade. Especially for Minisry of Science and Technology (科技部) “Digital and Humanity Study Project” (數位人文主題研究計畫), NCCU has ranked the first in both approved items and grants. NCCU president Edward H. Chow (周行一) mentioned that, in the future, the university will continue to consolidate different sciences in the hope that social science would contribute to the society and elaborate its academic influence.
