Self-Evaluation Mechanism and Results for NCCU Department and College Evaluation
On July 17th, 2012, the Ministry of Education announced the "Ministry of Education - Principles for Ratifying the Self-evaluation Results of Universities and Colleges (Pilot Project)" 「教育部試辦認定大學校院自我評鑑結果審查作業原則」, and advised that a two-stage ratification process shall be adopted on the evaluation of departmental administration and general education. Thirty-four schools were engaged in the pilot project to organize self-managed external evaluations.
In November, 2012, NCCU submitted its proposal to the Ministry of Education to seek approval on the evaluation mechanism. The final approval was received in October, 2013, after a year's worth of efforts. In December, 2013, NCCU successfully completed the site visits for the external evaluation. In June, 2014, NCCU submitted a formal application to the Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan (HEEACT), an agent of the Ministry, for ratification of the evaluation results. NCCU's self-evaluation results were finally accredited by the Ministry of Education in October, 2014. The accreditation is valid from 2015 to 2020.
As a university focusing on the study of humanity and social sciences, NCCU has long been playing an important role in developing talents for the country. In the future, NCCU will make continuous efforts to fulfill its unique strategic role, based on an innovative and competent self-evaluation system.
